I just want to draw a box in Photoshop!
Aug 3, 2004
This is probably a actually stupid question, only I merely tin't effigy out how to describe a rectangle in Photoshop CS (or PS6 for that matter). The line tool seems to be the only cartoon tool where I fix a line weight and that remains when I relieve the file. If I use whatsoever other shape tools it simply draws a box and fills it in with the foreground color. (I know that's what they are supposed to do!). But I desire to but describe a rectangle around some text. The but ii means that I can see to do that is to draw 4 lines with the line tool, or draw a rectangle filled with blackness and then draw a slightly smaller one within filled with white. Both are prettyy klutzy. At that place's got to exist a meliorate way! This is non a life or death situation, or even something I will need very often. But it's driving me crazy
Thanks for whatever help.

Use the rectangular marquee tool to make a selection equal to the box or rectangle, click edit > stroke, and fix the color and width of the line effectually the box.

As CaseyJ wrote the easy way is the rectangle Selection Tool use shift to constrain to a foursquare. And then Stroke it with color with inside exterior centered etc.
However you were and so shut to information technology with the shape as well. Below the line tool in that location is custom shape. Photoshop Ships with many shapes some loaded some not. At that place are many frames a rectangle i is there for sure. With shapes y'all cam chose color and also a fashion.
You can likewise draw your ain and add information technology to the shape pallet. Shape has a pen tool draw some. Have fun.
Past the way it seems a little strange to me where Photoshop placed the save or should I write define shape button. Information technology under the Edit menu along with stroke in that location ascertain brush/pattern/shape.
